Kochav Yaakov is clearly a community that makes new olim comfortable and has made the absorption of new immigrants a priority. Olim flock to the yishuv from various countries, but in particular France and the U.S.A.

There is an absorption counselor working through the yishuv office (mazkirut) who provides support to olim. Whether you need is to go to the Ministry of the Interior in order to clarify issues with your immigration status, register your children in the community schools or open up a bank account, the absorption counselor will accompany you and help you interface with the government offices.

The yishuv also arranges for adoptive families, meals for Shabbat, and transportation from the airport to your home in Kochav Yaakov. There is an outstanding four-day-a-week ulpan (intensive Hebrew language course) in Ofrah, a nearby yishuv, and new olim are provided with transportation and daycare arrangements. As is the case with most yishuvim, families wishing to live in Kochav Yaakov must be approved by an acceptance committee.
